6.35 Product update
-------------------
General notes:
- We have developed a 32-bit version of TBAV-for-Windows! The
beta version runs successfully under Windows NT and the
Windows95 Preview Edition. A beta version of TBAV-for-Networks
for the Windows NT platform will be finished soon!
- ThunderBYTE Anti-Virus is now supported electronically 24 hours
a day via CompuServe. You can contact us via the ThunderBYTE
Forum (GO TBYTE), WUGNET/WINUTIL Forum (GO WINUTIL) and via the
Windows News Forum (GO WINNEWS).
- TBAV-for-Dos now comes with a file containing answers to some
Frequently Asked Questions. This file, called TBAV.FAQ, can be
viewed via the TBAV-for-Windows and TBAV-for-DOS 'Documentation'
menu.
TBAV-for-Windows notes:
- Since TBAV-for-Windows and TBAV-for-DOS both use the same scan
engine, you are advised to read the "What's New" information
concerning TBAV-for-DOS as well. Select the item "What's new ?"
in the TBAV-for-Windows 'Documentation' menu to read the
information.
- The accompanying 'ReadMe.1st' file contains some last-minute
information about TBAV-for-Windows. Select the item "Read Me" in
the TBAV-for-Windows Program Manager group to read this file.
TBAV-for-Windows:
-> This release introduces the new TBAV-for-Windows VxD driver.
This VxD driver makes the File I/O Monitor module of
TBAV-for-Windows completely Windows-based. Furthermore, the File
I/O Monitor module now works correctly in all environments,
including environments where 32-bit Disk Access or 32-bit File
Access is enabled! For more information about the
TBAV-for-Windows VxD driver and how to install it, consult the
ReadMe.1st file.
- The online help files have been completely revised! The full
documentation of TBAV-for-Windows is included in an attractive
and easy-to-use help file.
- A new option is added in the 'Background Scan Configuration'
menu. It is now possible to instruct the behaviour of
TBAV-for-Windows when the program is minimized, by selecting
whether or not you want the status window to be displayed. If
you disable this option, the TBAV-for-Windows icon will be
displayed instead of the status window.
- The dialog box that appeared when quitting TBAV-for-Windows has
been changed. Now, you can not only choose to quit
TBAV-for-Windows, but you can also minimize TBAV-for-Windows.
You can even instruct TBAV-for-Windows not to show this dialog
box when you want to exit TBAV-for-Windows. Change the setting
for displaying the dialog box via the 'Options|TBAV for Windows
configuration' dialog !
- The Setup Module has been slightly improved.
- TBAV-for-Windows' interface with TBAV-for-Networks has been
enhanced.
- The utility called 'TbLoad' which implements the automatic
update feature of TBAV-for-Windows no longer relies on the
presence of the Anti-Vir.Dat file when a new version of
TBAV-for-Windows is copied, but will update the fingerprint
information in the TBAVWIN directory automatically.
- The Application Execution Tracker module caused a sharing
violation in some environments when a DOS program was executed.
This problem is now solved.
